I decided to check out this bagel spot in Old Town Alexandria, and I wasn't disappointed. It was easy to find and there's street parking available, which was perfect for a Sunday morning. The wait wasn't long at all, and I loved that they let you know when your food will be ready. The ambiance is nice. It's small, there is seating outside. I grabbed an everything bagel with jalapeño cheese spread and turkey (plus lettuce) and a white chocolate coffee. Let me just say the bagel was amazing! Perfectly chewy and fresh, and the spread added a nice kick. The coffee was okay, but it wasn't anything special. They don't have whipped cream or foams, so if you like sweeter, more decadent coffee, this might not be for you. But if you're there for the bagels, you're in for a treat!
Easy in and out service with friendly staff. The bagels were fresh, the coffee delicious, and the sandwiches generously portioned. I'll definitely be back when I'm in the area!
The Chewish deli is open five days a week. Wednesday through Sunday Friday is my favorite day because the bagel of the day is cheddar jalapeño. I pair it up also with either the veggie cream cheese or the jalapeño cheddar cream cheese both of which are a wonderful Choice for this bagel. The staff are all enthusiastic and helpful and always smiling. This place is busy, almost always a line and lots of people bring their cute dogs to join in their adventures. Their menu is always great and has vegan regular gluten free you name it. The bagels are just like they are in the north east, amazing. My two favorites are the sesame and the jalapeño cheddar. My brother likes the everything bagel. I also like the salt bagel. I try to tip more than the general 20% because everyone there deserves it. It's just that freakin good. I have never had an error or bad experience. They now also have some outside tables. Yay chewish!!
Cute small bagel shop in Alexandria! The people who work there are nice and they have cute decorations. I ordered the everything Bagel and it was pretty good! You can tell they make their eggs fresh and don't use the frozen premade ones.
Cute little shop in Alexandria. We got a BEC on an everything and a veggie cream cheese on everything bagel. The BEC wasn't anything special, but I really liked the veggie cream cheese. Service relatively fast.
Really great bagels ! Been here a handful of times and the quality never wavers. I've gotten the lox sandwich on everything (my fave and absolutely worth it), sunrise Ruben (on the greasy side), whitefish salad (not bad, could try other things imo). The quality is great but the restaurant has a limited schedule. Would recommend checking their website before ordering (can order online also). Wished they had extended hours because I seem to always crave bagels in the afternoon. Casual establishment with take away service only (no seating inside or outside). And there's always a line!
This bagel spot CHEW(ed) and left no crumbs! Chewish has a great selection of bagels both the classic flavors and also seasonal. I couldn't resist trying their espresso cream cheese, which has a nice espresso flavor with a hint of sweetness. The texture was a bit grainy (I think they put actual ground espresso beans in it) which I really liked but might not be to everyone's liking. The everything bagel was fresh and, per the namesake, was chewy. I also got a latte, which was pretty decent (which for a bagel place is all I really want). There was a bit of a line, but it moved quickly and the food came out quick as well. One of my biggest complaints is that there is not seating inside or outside, which appears to be due to permit requirements. So don't expect to sit! However, they are walking distance to the waterfront which is a great alternative. Overall, the bagel was so tasty but I wish it was bigger!! Compared to a Brooklyn bagel it was ~2/3 the size (meaning I was still hungry afterwards). I would definitely recommend giving this place a try. Can't spell delicious without DELI!
Not much says you've chosen the right bagel place like a line out the door and several customers waiting outside for their orders. Despite a busy crowd, I was in and out with my bagel in less than 15 minutes. I can't ever turn down an everything bagel, and this one definitely didn't disappoint. The lox cream cheese was generous in quantity and amount of lox. Staff were friendly and food was delicious.
